Education Is on the Move!

Phi Delta Kappa - University of Toronto Chapter is sponsoring a 5km Walk for Education.

Educators and non-educators are coming together in support of wide-ranging educational programs and local, non-profit, educational organizations.

On October 23, 2004, thousands of volunteers will walk the sidewalks, parks, and malls as advocates for education. In an estimated 640 cities world wide, they will be raising money for local, non-profit, eudcational organizations, and programs of the PDK Educational Foundation.

Money for the PDK Educational Foundation means more resources for programs serving educators at all levels, future teachers, and the profession of education. Programs and services indlude:

  • Author Seminar Lectures
  • Public School Forums
  • The Centre on Educational Policy
  • The PDK Gallop Poll of the Public's Attitudes toward Public Schools

Money for local educational organizations means facilitating efforts to meet a variety of local educational needs. People for Education, Toronto Educational Opportunity Fund, and Toronto Foundation for Student Success are a few examples of local education organisations. Raising money together builds partnerships.
