Why Join PDK?

PDK develops a sense of belonging to the exciting endeavor of education - locally, nationally, internationally. PDK is the only organization dedicated to publicly funded education which reaches out to the great variety of roles, levels and jobs in education. Benefits flow both ways: to and from the society, the educator, and the students from the areas of Research, Service, and Leadership.

Educators can benefit from PDK Membership at every stage of their career.

Beginning teachers get assistance through the myriad of activities that are new to them.
Mid-Career teachers and administrators are rejuvenated by interacting with other colleagues in their field, while pursuing their own development.
Veterans deepen their own understanding while mentoring newer colleagues and enjoying the exchange.

The resources available through PDK have been enlightening, thought provoking and useful in developing presentations I deliver throughout the province.

I felt that joining an organization where I had the opportunity to meet distinguished, respected educational experts in the top of their fields would provide me with an excellent learning and fellowship opportunity.

We are a part of the people we meet and the books we read. They are our sources for change and betterment. Without them, we remain statically the same.

PDK became my wide circle of friends and colleagues. The educators who join PDK tend to be alert and open to new ideas; therefore they have been a constant challenge to my thinking. They also understand the core of our three watchwords: leadership, research and service.

PDK has been a source of inspiration and pride for me as an educator. Kappans have a lofty view of education, one that believes deeply in the service motivation for children, teens, and adults. We serve our communities with competence, honesty, and passion because we know that we make a difference in the lives of families and students.

Fraternity, fellowship and fun, with an association of dedicated and innovated educators attracted me to become a member of PDK-UT.

In addition they are used for the University of Toronto Chapter's Future Educators Association, a mentoring programme that begins at the elementary level, helping students from diverse communities develop their interest and capabilities in the teaching profession. They also support those Spelling Bees co-partnered with PDK, U of T Chapter.

Full details of each award will be posted on the Chapter website, www.pdk-ut.ca annually in the fall.
