Dr. Orlena Broomes wins at PDK International
Dr. Orlena Broomes has won the 2011 - 2012 Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from PDK International for her "More Than a New Country: Effects of Immigration, Home Language, and School Mobility on Elementary Students' Academic Development."
Further information about her award is found on the press release posted on the PDK International website.
Orlena is now lecturing in the School of Education at the University of West Indies-St. Augustine in Trinidad and Tobago, and thanks the people who were part of her success story. "During my four years at OISE I met some very highly intelligent and knowledgeable people. Sincere gratitude goes to my supervisor, Professor Ruth Childs, my thesis committee, my External Reader and EQAO. Special thanks to my spouse Jefferson, my children Anna and Jefferson, and the members of Professor Childs' Datahost community. Their great guidance, support, and encouragement are valued."
